The call for presentations for APQC’s 2012 knowledge management (KM) conference

The call for presentations for APQC’s 2012 knowledge management (KM) conference is now open!

As the theme for this year’s conference, we want to move beyond traditional views of KM to focus on knowledge-driven excellence: how organizations create standardized knowledge processes, integrate them into strategic business processes and the flow of daily work, and then leverage them for the achievement of strategic goals. Whether your organization aims to increase profitability, avoid mistakes, or enhance quality, we want to know how knowledge and knowledge processes are helping you get there.

APQC believes that knowledge-driven excellence is supported by four broad pillars: strategy, people, process, and technology. Organizations must pay attention to all four categories in order for their KM programs to have maximum impact. As you create your abstract for submission, we invite you to showcase how all four pillars have led you to KM success. If one of the pillars is especially strong in your case, or if you have an innovative or powerful approach or tool, please make that clear in your abstract.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submit your abstract online. The deadline for submissions is November 11, 2011.

Abstracts must be submitted before midnight CST on Friday, November 11, 2011.
Abstracts may not exceed 100 words, but they may be supplemented by up to 250 words of explanation and highlights to assist the abstract review team in its selection.
Copies of presentation material, book chapters, or published articles are not acceptable as abstracts. APQC welcomes these materials to supplement your abstract submission.
In addition to the abstract, submissions must include a 50-word biography for each speaker. Resumes are not acceptable.
Conference speakers will receive free registration for the entire two-day event. Costs associated with the presentation—including travel and lodging—are the responsibility of the presenter.
If a presentation has more than one speaker, a free registration will be given to the primary speaker, and a 50 percent discount will be given to additional speakers. Each presentation may have no more than three speakers, including one primary speaker.
If selected, you must be available to speak at any time on April 26 or 27, 2012.
Should you be chosen to present, a copy of the completed PowerPoint presentation with any needed internal approvals must be submitted via e-mail by April 13, 2012.
Making sales pitches or distributing marketing materials during presentations is strictly prohibited.
Consultants and product vendors may submit an abstract as a co-presenter with a client, but the client must tell the story and give the bulk of the presentation, in order to maintain a practitioner-oriented environment. All presentations must avoid commercialism, promotion, and advertising.
Presentations that are simply descriptions of company products and services will not be allowed.
Advertising of any kind may not be distributed, nor may any material be displayed that directly promotes the commercial interests of the presenters or any particular enterprise.
Statements in the presentation are the sole responsibility of the author. No presenter statements should be viewed as, or considered representative of, any formal stance or position taken on any product, subject, or issue by APQC.
Submission and acceptance of an abstract permits APQC to record the presentation and make it available to conference attendees and other APQC members.
The media may cover presentations. If you feel your presentation warrants special attention, contact APQC’s meeting manager for information concerning APQC’s press release distribution policy.
If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Debbie Norman, APQC’s meeting manager, by phone at +1 (713) 685-4718 or 1 (800) 776-9676 ext. 4718 or by e-mail at dnorman@apqc.org.
